I love the tiny details in a wedding, the pieces that more fully tell the story of that couple, what they love, what they do together, how they met, what their hopes are for their future, who they are, both individually and as a couple. Of course this appeals to me, because story is what I am all about and my job in marrying you is to be your storyteller, to use my words the same way all the details lend the images. Together we create your unique and special love story. Becky and James met and bonded over a mutual love of rowing when they were both on a team in college. And their relationship not only endured but strengthened during the many years they managed the challenges of a long distance relationship. So rowing, nautical and travel themes were prevalent, in many ways, as well as sweet homemade touches like these hearts. Becky is a quilter and like all quilters loves fabrics. These hearts, each one unique, were made with the cutest and most whimsical fabrics, color coordinated to their wedding colors.

Becky and James, and many of their family members, reside in the UK, but Becky's parents and some other family members reside in the US, so their ceremony was held here in the states, at a lovely winery in Livermore called Murietta's Well Winery. Intimate, cozy and oh so perfect for Becky & James. They bought a house together and that first Christmas in their new home they hosted both of their families for the first time. And that is when James proposed.
Being lighthearted and wanting to truly celebrate with their guests, "props" like hats and sunglasses were provided as a trolley car drove onto the winery grounds and guests posed with delight.

These two are very active, and still enjoy rowing, biking, visiting beautiful places at home and spending time with family. James' mum read the poem "The Cloths of Heaven" by WB Yeats, a poem that had a very personal significance for her and the family.
More sweet nautical touches with little cards to write your best wishes to the couple. These are the kinds of personal touches I love, the kinds of things that bring people together over a commonality of celebration and bond them in ways they didn't know possible, because they have shared something magical and personal together.

Cheers! Cheers to many happy rowing and biking trips to come and quiet afternoons spent sitting on a porch holding hands, surrounded by family.
What a sweet story, beautifully illustrated in word and image!

Why thank you Jeri! I appreciate that very much! I guess I could have given myself credit for the photos not taken by the photographer. :) Writer and partial illustrator!
